McAfee and Facebook Teaming up

McAfee and Facebook have teamed up to better protect you and the world from virus, hackers, spyware, malware, and other security threats.

On January 13, 2010 McAfee announced that it will protect 350 million Facebook users FREE for six months with its ‘McAfee Internet Security Suite’, once your six month subscription has expired you will be able to renew it for a significantly discounted price.

All you have to do to get six months free of McAfee’s Internet Security Suite is become a fan of their Facebook page.

I already have security software why do I care?

If you already have security software on your computer make sure you check the following otherwise you could be an open door to hackers and ID theft:

• Is your program up-to-date?
• Do you have a valid subscription? (getting daily updates)
• Are you running scans regularly? (scheduled scans recommended)
• Is the software fully operational with firewall and real time scanning enabled?

If you said yes to all the questions above then listen to this statistic first, according to McAfee 80% of consumers have an out-of-date Anti-Virus program.

If you have checked all of the following in the past week and your programs are fully operational then, Congratulation!!! Your computer is most likely to be hacker proof.

Major Security Risk with Facebook and MySpace

There has been a recent explosion of a new virus on Facebook and MySpace. This virus will turn your computer into a zombie if the E-Mail is viewed. The name of this E-Mail is, “You look just Awesome in the new movie”.

This virus has been called the "Koobface" virus. Once your computer has been infected it will turn your computer into a zombie, this means your computer will be sending the infected E-Mail to millions of other users.

In order to protect yourself from this kind a attack, don’t open any unknown E-Mails and keep your Anti-Virus up-to-date.
